  1. Thank you very much, Lin, for your so kind presentation of Jean-Pierre and his big contribution to enhance PTE. His imagination was very important - limitless - and his ability as well. His death was and still is a great loss for us all. What would he have dreamed and done with the new versions ?

Thanks Jim for the response. Yes it did take some months to put the AV together. The specialist miniature builder spent 72 hours building and ageing the unique space ships for me. I photographed incense stick smoke trails at the beginning and used Photoshop to build up the nebula and star fields from my sky/cloud collection together with a program that allowed me to build and modify my own planets. I spent a lot of time extracting the spaceships to save as png files. It also took me some time researching and mixing the soundtrack from various sources.

Well done, Ingrid, keep up the good work. I am sure other members will be able to help with the odd glitch especially if you post on the Slideshow section in PTE Forum. Mickp

    Landscape In Focus

Very nice Mike. Music worked well. Nice photos, but if I had my druthers I would prefer to not have your watermark on every one. (The backgrounds sometimes had a cutoff watermark that was distracting even more). The watermark, being the brightest thing in the image, plus being text, draws the eye away from the beautiful subjects well photographed.

  8. Eddy, You have made a beautiful show of a place we seldom see much of. Your portraits of these dignified people and the placement of them in the image was masterful. I only wished you had given some short written context of there culture at the beginning of your show. Thanks for showing, Bert

To me, this is what AV is all about. The author has taken a simple premise and by combining their imagination and their photographic skills with the amazing creativity of Pictures to Exe has produced a beautiful Audio Visual work of art.

  23. Best of the four Andrew, I really enjoyed it. A nice fast pace to it in line with the music and the photography especially of the tower blocks was first class. A couple of nit-picks but not worth mentioning here. Well done and thanks for sharing.

I always like the way Barry talks about a subject. Understandable and he gives you quite a few good examples of his subject matter.

  28. Stunning photography which displays very well as a photo album and would be difficult to do as an A/V because of the large variations in aspect ratio. However, one of the things in looking at a regular photo album is that you can turn the pages at own own speed dwelling on the photos of particular quality or interest. Lack of keyboard control prevented this with your album. An option for a mouse click to advance the page would have been very nice.

  29. Hi Andrew, That was really impressive. The photography, juxtaposition and timing were, to me, all spot on and gave me a good insight to modern New York (30 years since I was there). I didn't like the transition from Ground Zero to Liberty Statue with the sharp cut off of the music although I think you may have done this on purpose. I think a more gentle fade-out perhaps with a couple of seconds blank screen may have been more effective. Also I'm not so sure of the very grainy effect on some of the shots, again maybe this was meant but I found it a bit distracting. Just my views of course but would not have commented had I not thought it was a very good show.

  32. Bob: Nicely done ! Post=processing was well handled, both in the images and PTE. I understand your hestitation re showing it beyond the family, but thanks for doing it. I think it is one of the few times I have seen pictures from Australia other than urban or outback (or surfing).

    Blik op de Slikken

(Mooie show) I liked your show Cor, it looked like you made at lot of images from the same vantage point and let the incoming/outgoing water change the shapes and the colors of the mudflats. You where also careful to keep the horizon in the same place in al your images in the show. Thanks for showing. Bert

    Rocky Mountain Kids

Hi Jeff, Thanks! I just checked the EXIF and it says July of 2005 for the goats and kids and the marmot was on the same day. The Pika was the following week from about 13,000 feet on the same mountainI was using a Sigma SD15 with a Sigma 80-400 OS lens which with the 1.7x crop puts it at an effective 680 mm. Isn't that the way it goes - you get a once in a lifetime opportunity and no camera!! There doesn't seem to be too many people posting right now - but it usually happens in groups for whatever reason. Probably when the first beta of 8.5 is released - most likely then end of October, we will see new shows posted. Best regards, Lin

    Bowes Railway

Love the old railway and machine shop with the big ANC lathe. Johnny's rendition of Life is Like a Mountain Railroad (the original title was "Life's Railway to Heaven) is perfect and black and white indeed fitting. Would have liked perhaps one or two more seconds at the end slide to avoid the rather abrupt ending to the music but a great show! Lots of nostalgia there for days past... Best regards, Lin

  42. Charlie - thank you. Venice out of season must surely be the better. I have kept sequences created by yourself and your friends which are very atmospheric and taken when most of the tourists have departed. Again, thank you. Maureen

  43. Thank you, Jean-Cyprien and Eric for getting permission to post some of Jean-Pierre's work. I still marvel every time I watch this and ponder how he was able to do this! It is and probably will always remain a mystery. I know he would love version 8 and have many new and innovative ways to use it as well as suggestions for the continued improvement of this magnificent tool!
