About This File

This is a complete remake of an earlier show. Now that we can use video at a good quality and compress it enough to not worry too much about how much megapixels used, I can make an entirely different show. Lots of fun for a guy that can't get out and shoot new footage. That will change soon for all of us.  Also, newer software can now enhance the quality of the still images as well. I'm very pleased with this new show. Keep in mind it is a one week adventure with my pal Coolhand Karen and Sammy, our 4 legged pal.  The show is in two parts. I hope you like it.

Would love to go back to this part of the world, but too late now.  Wonderful landscapes, Jeff, as I always expect of you.

Hi Maureen. Thanks for the compliments. I sure know what you mean about too late.  All my backpacking video and pictures remind me of that very thing all the time. I can't get back to my favorite places to be alone with nature, and I don't know if I'll ever have another dog to take with me. Gradual and not so gradual body changes do a number on us all. I haven't backpacked since I was 52. Changes came too early for me but it really doesn't matter as it takes it's toll for all of us eventually. Luckily you and I have a lot of great pics and memories. Thanks again.

Beautiful scenery, clips and stills will transitioned.

(Always wonder about you running out of gas is some of the places you visit!)

Hi Bert. Yes, gas is an issue.  Once we were back 9 miles on a very rough road that took a couple hours of careful driving when we came over a hill and saw two people walking in our direction with a 5 gallon jug of water in hand.  I told Karen that we were going to have to pick one of them up, we had Buck in the back seat, and drive all the way back and then onto a place with a phone. The man was shirtless and had bad body odor so I really preferred the woman as far as a passenger. When he leaned over to talk Buck growled and with that he was fine with not getting in the car. Buck was a very big boy and friendly except when he was on the trail. He became very much the guard dog once we were all alone. As we drove back out the woman explained that they were driving with the check engine light on and the alternator light on.  They didn't even have a 4 wheel drive. Crazy, and a long day for us.
