About This File
[Note: This is a rework of my first submission of this show. A comment was made that the different aspect ratios of the images and the drop shadow were distracting. The aspect ratios were different because most of the images needed to leveled and transformed which caused a difference in cropping each image. I found a way in PTE to easily make the horizontal and vertical images, respectively, the same size, and I put a small border around the images. I hope this is a better show.]
‘Russian Onions’ is a collection of the distinctive architectural church domes I photographed on a recent trip to Russia. These domes were created to allow the weight of the heavy Russian snows to slide off. Though I was captivated by these domes, I was even more impressed attending the Orthodox services in the churches. However, in most of them, photography was not permitted. One that allows photography is the Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood in St. Petersburg (the last set of images). (3:41)
