Adventure 3
By Jeff Lunt
I wanted to show a brief clip of how I like to camp these days. No more backpacking as my doctors say NO. It's okay with me as long as I have a 4x4 vehicle. My rig is a 4Runner named Ragnar. He was born in October of 1997 in Japan. He's a fine fella. No, I'm not nuts I just like to humanize things. Ragnar and I both look a bit raggedy these days which suits both of us.

2024 September Adventure Part 1
By Jeff Lunt
Since I haven't been doing still photography very much anymore, I'm going to post short vignettes from video files. Since the number of megs we can use on this site is small for video, these will be quite short. I am using some stills taken from video to fill out the show a bit. This was back in September when I was trying to time the fall color of the aspens. I was going to explore Utah with drone and action camera in hand and then end my adventure in Leadville Colorado. Leadville was gorgeous. They had a foot of fresh snow, fantastic white, and the aspen were in full color. By the time I got there my back was hurting so bad I didn't take a single photo. Nuts. As it was I had a hard time driving home to Albuquerque. Health is everything and mine is slipping. But that's another story.

Abandoned Air Base
By Jeff Lunt
Karen and I wanted to take a drive for fun last Saturday. I had heard of an abandoned air base in the middle of nowhere. There was no indication of where it was on the map. It had been abandoned since 1961. It was very tricky finding it.

A bit of May
By Jeff Lunt
A short video of a portion of my May 2024 video. I had emergency surgery in June to save my life. I've been back exploring as soon as I can because time is short. Make the most of your time and burn brightly while you can. All the best to all of you. I'll keep posting until the end.

Rendez-nous la lumière !
By Ivanjou
Give us back the light!
This slideshow, designed hot in full social protest,
on a sometimes harsh text, is in no way militant:
it is a cry from the heart of those who are nothing and want to live.
PS This slide show won first prize at the Quiberon festival in 2023

Sunrise in the Mojave Desert
By Jeff Lunt
I was rewarded with two sunrises of spectacular proportions on an adventure in January of 2022. We get many in New Mexico but I live in the crowded neighborhood, so the foreground diminishes the picture. The Mojave Desert was the perfect place to photograph these two moments. By the way, the last drone shot was the area that was totally burned out by extreme heat and lack of water in 2023. Luckily I was there in 2022.

Brumes (Mist)

Winter is the time of cotton landscapes, with a discreet sun that, when it pierces the mist, can make nature dazzling.

2023june Video Version 1920x1080
By Jeff Lunt
The 4k version is way to big. When making a video from mostly stills it is important to remember a single still image has to be processed to 30 frames a second, hence that single image becomes 30 images. The original file for this video came in at 132megs. To get it under the limits I brought that file back into my video software and just added a tiny bit of letterbox to shrink it just a bit. It actually came out larger still, but when converted in PTE, even at high level it came out at 101 megs. The video was made entirely in PTE. Somehow good old PTE has some way of negating all of this and you can watch the same file at 4k and still come under the file limits. The EXE file is always the preferred file. HD1920-1080 video looks fine on smaller screens.

Where My Spirit Soars
By Jeff Lunt
Had a chance to head up to my favorite spots in Colorado. It's been the hottest on record here so far...at least high 90's and over 100 for over a month non-stop. We've had hot weather in the past but nothing like this. With that I headed to the Silverton area of Colorado where it stayed in the 70s. Silverton is just over 9300 ft above sea level and the mountains around are much higher and cooler. That's for me. I'm heading that way again soon as it's still over 100 according to the weather station a block from my home. Just this short video gives me some relief.

Looking Glass Rock
By Jeff Lunt
This is a small portion of a trip Karen and I took back in November for Karen's birthday. I knew I married the right gal when I found out she would go on trips in the cold. Our tiny trailer is only 600lbs and has nothing but a flat platform the size of a standard double bed but what it does have is a 4x4 suspension. I have trouble setting up camp anymore, so having a bed and quick shelter is a must. This was our maiden voyage.

5 Days in September
By Jeff Lunt
Hello Everybody. I think this one came out pretty good. It's just under 3 and a half minutes. I planned a month long trip from mid September to mid October, two weeks in Colorado and two weeks in Utah. On the third day I started getting a toothache. Great. It got worse fast. So instead of a month I got 5 days, two of which were mostly driving. In the old days I could have made an appointment with my dentist and said, "Pull the rascal”. Now I have to go to the dentist, pay him, get a referral, go to that dentist, have a consultation, pay him for that, then he schedules me for October 4th to actually pull the tooth, and then needs more money. What a racket. When I called my main dentist the receptionist told me to take ibuprofen. It worked. If I'd know that I would still be in Colorado. BTW, when I was 50, I remember this as up until then I had 32 teeth, I got a real bad toothache while camping in Utah with Karen and our dogs Sammy and Lomax. It was on a Friday and dentist's usually work up until noon Thursday. We stopped in Moab to see if anyone was open on Friday. Luckily we found one in Monticello about 50 miles away. The dentist's office was in a mobile home. He had a high school girl as his helper. I said I needed a tooth pulled. He walked in and started chatting pleasantly and then pulled the tooth. One stop, one fee. And he was the best dentist I've ever encountered.

A few moments in an old man's life
By Jeff Lunt
Nothing much, just something to fill some time until others post. This is all that is left from a holiday that I took in July. I managed to delete everything else. The only reason I have this is because it was on my Google Drive. What a goof. It's about 2 minutes long.

A Visit to the Sierras
By Jeff Lunt
This is not a stills show. It is just over 2 minutes and it is all video, so if you only like traditional slideshows you may want to skip this one, though at only 2 minutes it shouldn't be too much of an effort. I recorded this show in January when I had a shack only 300 miles away. Now I'm 800 miles away and probably won't get back there again. Who knows? Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
